Course description

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces the trade and climate nexus, related policies, multilateral fora and areas of opportunity for developing countries. It is aimed at policymakers from trade and environment fields, as well as the private sector and civic society.

The first module of the course introduces key themes of the trade and climate nexus.. The following modules explore domestic green policies that affect trade and describe trade policy tools for building climate resilience. The course concludes with outlining trade priorities for developing countries, such as circularity, blue economy and carbon markets.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

Have a deeper understanding of the nexus between climate change and trade;
Craft trade and environment policies for building national competitiveness and climate resilience;
Harness new market opportunities in emerging areas of importance, such as circularity, blue economy and carbon markets; and
Engage strategically in trade and environment discussions at the local, regional and multilateral levels.

COURSE CERTIFICATION
